Thalia Grace, daughter of Zeus, kicked it off with her drumbeat, grinning at her best friend—Aria Gotokuji, daughter of Artemis. Piper McLean—daughter of Aphrodite and guitarist—,Calypso—daughter of Atlas and keyboardist—, and Lou Ellen—daughter of Hecate and bassist—smiled widely. Aria allowed a smirk before winking at her boyfriend, Matt Ishida, who was in the curtains.
He was a boy
She was a girl
Can I make it anymore obvious?
He was a punk.
She did ballet.
What more can I say? Matt went through a punk stage in his teenage years. He secretly enjoyed singing but would never tell. Mimi Tachikawa was ditz and smart in many ways. She was the cheer captain. She had friends like Drew Tanaka and Amy Kate, evil and malicious daughters of Aphrodite who were nothing but playgirls.
He wanted her.
She'd never tell.
Secretly she wanted him as well.
And all of her friends
Stuck up their nose.
And they had a problem with his baggy clothes. He liked Mimi. More than he would ever admit. His best friend, Tai Kamiya, teased him nonstop all through sophomore year about his infatuation. Sora Takenouchi, his girlfriend, thought Matt’s little crush was “adorable”. Mimi couldn’t help but secretly like him back. Not that she would ever admit that, though. Unfortunately, Drew and Amy, being the witches in disguise they are, stuck up their noses. They had a problem with his baggy clothes.
He was a skater boy, she said, "See ya later, boy."
He wasn't good enough for her.
She had a pretty face but her head was up in space.
She needed to come back down to earth. TK, Matt’s younger brother by 2 years, thought Mimi was a total ditz that Matt didn’t need to waste his time on. TK was good at reading people as he trusted his gut and logic. Not to mention the fact that he was in college before his brother.
Matt didn’t heed TK’s warning and got to know Mimi a little better. They fell for each other harder than before. To Sora and Tai, it was absolutely perfect and adorable. For TK, warning bells were going off in his head. He introduced his brother to Aria, another child prodigy—err, teen prodigy. She was just a year younger than Matt and had an interest in music as well. She helped him develop his music skills, as she wished to be a musician as well, and fell for him. But Matt still liked Mimi. He asked her out and she said no. She. said. no.
NO?! Really, Mimi was under the influence of Drew and Amy. But she kept living under that belief. She and Matt never ended up together.
Five years from now, she sits at home feeding the baby, she's all alone.
She turns on TV and guess who she sees?
Skater boy rockin' up MTV.
She calls up her friends.
They already know.
And they've all got tickets to see his show.
She tags along, stands in the crowd.
Looks up at the man that she turned down. 5 years later, Mimi’s husband had died from a car crash. “Come on, baby,” cooed Mimi. “Eat the food.” Her child, finally asleep. Mimi rests and turns on the TV. MTV, there he was, Matt Ishida, performing side-by-side with Aria Gotokuji. Mimi calls up Drew, but she’s already got tickets to see the show. She tagged along and stared at him… He looked so comfortable with Aria. Mimi looked to the side and saw Matt’s prodigy brother glaring at her.
You don’t deserve him, mouthed TK. He turned around as if Mimi wasn’t worth his time. Mimi hoped Matt didn’t see her glowing red face.
[2x:]
He was a skater boy, she said, "See ya later, boy."
He wasn't good enough for her.
Now he's a superstar
Slammin' on his guitar
Does your pretty face see what he's worth? Backstage, Mimi watched as Drew and Amy tried to flirt with the ex-punk.
Ugh, they weren’t flirting with him back in high school, thought Mimi. Matt seemed to be thinking the same thing, as he rolled his eyes and waved the off. Aria glared at them as she pulled Matt into a kiss.
Sorry, girl, but you missed out.
Well, tough luck, that boy's mine now.
We are more than just good friends.
This is how the story ends.
Too bad that you couldn't see...
See that man that boy could be.
There is more than meets the eye,
I see the soul that is inside.
He's just a boy, and I'm just a girl.
Can I make it anymore obvious?
We are in love.
Haven't you heard how we rock each other's world?
I'm with the skater boy, I said, "See ya later, boy.
I'll be backstage after the show.
I'll be at the studio singing the song we wrote about a girl you used to know."
I'm with the skater boy, I said, "See ya later, boy.
I'll be backstage after the show.
I'll be at the studio singing the song we wrote about a girl you used to know." Back to the present, Aria could see Mimi in the back row, trying not to cry. As much as Aria felt bad towards the girl, she missed out on her chance.
